Problem:
When the previous tenant vacated the building, they cut all Cat 6 cables at the patch panel — leaving 200 cables in a pile on the floor. The client needed a fully working Cat 6 cabling system without the cost of a complete new installation.
Action:
Forlence repositioned all floor boxes to correct locations, used cable identification tools to number and label every cable at both ends, and drew in any missing or short cables. Patch panels were terminated and a full Fluke Certification test was carried out across the entire installation. 20 faulty circuits were identified — 15 of which also failed Cat 5e and Gigabit ethernet standards. All faults were traced to damaged cables near the floor box ends and fully fixed the next day.
Result:
The entire cabling system was refurbished, certified and delivered fully compliant to Cat 6 specifications. By reusing the existing infrastructure, the client saved up to £6,000 compared to installing a brand new cabling system.
